The players involved were prosecuted, and a guy named Ruth eventually made everyone forget about it. Now we have “could-not-care-less” NBA commissioner David Stern smugly dismissing Donaghy’s claims as “baseless.”You can’t blame the commissioner though. The NBA has been deflecting suspicions for years and ratings and attendance are as good as ever.Apparently it takes far more than a crooked ref and a slew of allegations to turn fans away. Apparently the average NBA fan doesn’t much care whether the outcomes of all games are legitimate. It’s Faaaaaaaaaaaaantastic!. Despite what the fans in Canada are feeling right now, ECW didn’t mind the competition from RAW But that wouldn’t stop them from putting on a great show. With that, Kofi Kingston came out to open the competition.First Bout: Kofi & Evan Bourne defeat Shelton Benjamin & Mike KnoxKnox and Bourne start the match, After using his power, Shelton comes in and gets clocked with a flying kick.
Kingston comes in, but Shelton only comes back into the match after Knox does his dirty work.Kofi recovers and counters with a dropkick. Knox returns and applies a submission, but Kofi counters and tags in Bourne. After a boot sends him outside, Knox physically brings in Kingston and Shelton quickly follows to continue punishment on him. But while Shelton handles Kofi, Bourne drops Knox with a Spike Stomp for the upset win.In the back, Armando Estrada is having a conversation with Teddy Long’s new assistant, Tiffany.
Long returns and decides to give Estrada a chance to earn his contract…in a match against Finlay.Second Bout: Victoria defeats Kelly KellyAs the bell rings, Kelly Kelly is using some high flying dropkicks to gain the advantage, but Victoria grabs control with some serious arm submissions. Kelly starts fighting back, but Victoria keeps the pressure on witha clothesline and modified sleeper.Kelly fights off the sleeper and nails a pair of hurracanranas. As Victoria has her on the outside, she counters with faceplant that sends her to ground below. The ref stops the match and gives the victory to Victoria due to Kelly’s unattempt to return to the ring.Third Bout: Finlay defeats Armando EstradaArmando begins pummeling Finlay even before the match begins, but when the bell rings, he continues the assault. The Irishman recovers and delivers some punishment of his own. Finlay wastes no time now that he has the advantage and nails Estrada with the Celtic Cross for the win.But Teddy Long comes out in the midst of the celebration and gives Estrada another shot at earning his contract.
It will be against a familiar foe, though.Fourth Bout: Colin Delaney defeats Armando EstradaBefore Colin gets to the ring, Finlay uses his shillelagh on Armando’s leg Delaney comes in and drops him with a quick DDT. Colin rolls him up and gets the quick victory over his former nemesis. But the new GM of ECW gives him yet another shot at earning his big time contract against another opponent. And this time, his opponent won’t have to come from the back to knock him senseless.Fifth Bout: Hornswoggle defeats Armando EstradaHornswoggle is already on the ropes when his name is called as Armando’s next opponent. Hornswoggle wastes no time as he scales to the top ropes and nails the Tadpole Splash for the quick victory over the former GM of ECW.But the celebration is cut short (sort of) as Finlay clocks Colin Delaney with the shillelagh after Delaney snatches the Irish Derby from his son’s dome. The celebration resumes as Finlay and Hornswoggle dance at the entranceway.Key things to remember: 1) Don’t forget to register (or re-register) for McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania at wwe , 2) While you’re there, snag the new “The Rock” DVD, available now at wweshop , and 3) The 2008 WWE Draft is two weeks away and will be live on Monday, June 23rd during RAW on USA.Mark Henry makes an appearance and calls out the Big Show once again.
