Spurs guard Tony Parker won’t need surgery on his broken right hand, meaning he may be able to return for the playoffs. He is expected to miss about six weeks. “Everything is by degrees. That would be worse if he needed surgery, so I guess it makes me feel better,” Spurs coach Greg Popovich said.

Karl, who has neck and throat cancer, was scheduled for a surgical procedure Monday to have a feeding tube inserted into his stomach. He will also go through another chemotherapy session Tuesday.

Al Jefferson has returned to the Minnesota Timberwolves after serving a two-game suspension for a DWI arrest. Jefferson was scheduled to be in the lineup Monday night when the Timberwolves hosted Dallas. He was arrested early Feb. 28 on suspicion of drunken driving and later apologized. Dwight Howard was barking in the locker room, mocking some Lakers he claimed called his Orlando Magic team “puppies.” Out on the court, the Magic showed they can bite. Vince Carter had 25 points, Howard finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds and the Magic beat the Lakers 96-94 on Sunday to hand Los Angeles its first three-game losing streak of the Pau Gasol-Kobe Bryant Era.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has a stomach illness but is expected to play against the Orlando Magic. Lakers coach Phil Jackson said before Sunday’s game that Bryant would likely play despite being a little late to the game because of the illness. Bryant was not in the locker room while it was open to the media.

The San Antonio Spurs will have to find a way to win without Tony Parker for a while. Parker broke a bone in his right hand at the end of the first half, putting a damper on the Spurs’ 102-92 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. “He’s got a broken hand. Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey was “doing well” and was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon following his collapse on the bench Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. All tests done at the Cleveland Clinic came back normal, the team said. He was returning to Detroit and will undergo further tests.
