On the ensuing pit stop, Kasey Kahne’s pit crew had a miscue, as crew chief Kenny Francis called for a two-tire pit stop while pitting. All three cars suffered damage, but not enough to end their days. The very next caution would find those same two drivers involved again, as this time the tables were turned and Carpentier spun out Hornish in turn 1, this time taking David Gilliland with them. A part in not one, not two, but three seperate cautions, Hornish brought out the fourth caution of the day after tagging the #10 of Patrick Carpentier in turn 1. A frustrated Kyle Busch would end the day in 43rd position, taking a major hit in his points lead.Apparently attempting to become a human pinball, Sam Hornish Jr would find trouble all day. Busch thought he was clear of the 26, but caught the 26’s front bumper as he was pulling in front of him, sending Busch into the outside wall. Struggling to make his way through the field after starting the race at the back due to crashing his primary car in practice, Busch tangled with the #26 of Jamie McMurray.
Busch broke almost all the support rods for the front splitter, but his crew made repairs and had the Blue Duece back under way.On lap 46, points leader Kyle Busch found big trouble coming off turn 4. The field got strung out and right as the first round of green-flag pit stops were about to begin, NASCAR threw one of their famed “phantom” debris cautions to bunch the field back up.After the restart, Kurt Busch self-spun through the infield grass, bringing out the second caution of the day. Kahne had the dominant car all day and cruised to a relatively easy victory. The start of the race was entirely uneventful, as drivers were feeling out their cars and seeing how the track was going to handle. Call it whatever you want, but Kasey Kahne is on top of NASCAR right now and Sunday’s race at Pocono proved it. Unstoppable On a roll Lucky. I do not think stretching Joba out during the season was a good idea, but as long as they can continue winning while he develops, I have no problem watching it unfold. It looks like the Yankees have a special player on their hands..
The last part is most important, because the Yankees offense eventually came through and led the team to a win.It was a huge success today for the Yanks instretching Joba out further, while still winning the game. The Yankees only had to use three relievers in Giese, Jose Veras, and Mariano Rivera.Joba was able to do three things today: go deeper into the game, lift some of the stress off the bullpen, and keep the Yankees in the game. Giese was able to eat up 2.2 innings, while shutting down K.C and picking up the win. Joba may have only given up one run today, if not for one hanging slider to Guillen (who has become a Yankee killer this series).Regardless, Joba left with the Yanks trailing 3-2, and even though he could not win the game, he kept the Yankees in it.He also left little strain on the bullpen, thanks in large part to Dan Giese.
His command was on display today, as he struck out five and only walked one. Joba was able to spot his pitches much better today, yet he still blew Jose Guillen away in the first inning with a 99 mph fastball. In his first start, he struck out only three and walked four batters in his short stint. He threw a whopping 38 pitches in the first inning, and according to Joe Girardi, was onebase-runner away from being pulled before he even got three outs. This time around, on a scorching hot day in the Bronx, the mercury wasn’t the only thing displaying heat. Not only was Joba able to go deeper into the game this time, but he was much more effective. In Joba’s first start, it looked like he was carrying too much adrenaline into the start and was overthrowing. The Yanks had to delve into a Joba-less bullpen early in the game, and the Bronx Bombers were set up for disaster.Coming into today’s tilt with the Royals, Joba was expected to throw between 70-80 pitches. The Yankees have made their decision, and they stand firm on their belief that Joba will be an ace in the starting rotation.Joba’s first go-round caused a lot of trouble for the Yanks, as it was apparent Joba’s arm was not stretched out enough to carry far enough into a ballgame.Joba was pulled after just 2.1 innings, and the Yankees bullpen felt the effects of his short start. Whether moving Joba Chamberlain to the rotation is a good move or not is now a moot point.
This will put him at a severe disadvantage, but McLaren believe they may get the right strategy to vault him up the grid. The FIA have rubbished conspiracy theories, saying there is no evidence whatsoever that Hamilton deliberately pointed his car in Raikkonen’s direction. So, do you think the penalties were deserved? How big an impact could this have on the title race?. By time he saw the light, it was too late. The best grid position that Hamilton can now hope for in France is 11th. Rosberg had said he did not see the light, as he was careful watching the other cars exiting their pits. Many believe that it cost him a podium finish. The stewards deemed that both had breached article 16.1 of the regulations by “causing a collision.”Hamilton insisted he had seen the red light, but failed to slow in time. Hamilton and Rosberg both failed to spot the red light at the end of the pit lane, braked too late, and subsequently crashed.Hamilton crashed into title rival Kimi Raikkonen, whereas Rosberg hit Hamilton.Hamilton and Raikkonen were unable to continue, but Rosberg was able to drive back to the pits after sustaining a broken front wing.
