Ilgauskas wants to return to Cavaliers (AP)

Posted on 01 January 2010

In this Jan. 8, 2010, photo, Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, of Lithuania, heads to the bench during the Cavaliers' NBA basketball game against the Denver Nuggets in Denver. An official within the league tells The Associated Press the NBA has not threatened to stop a potential reunion between the Cavaliers and Ilgauskas. The Cavaliers traded their longtime center to Washington last week in the three-team deal that brought Antawn Jamison to Cleveland. The Wizards may decide to buy out Ilgauskas, allowing him to become a free agent.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas has forgiven the Cleveland Cavaliers. Feeling betrayed after he was traded last month, Ilgauskas wants to return to the only NBA team he has played for to help it win a championship. Ilgauskas, the towering center known to Cleveland fans simply as “Z,” told his agent Herb Rudoy to begin negotiations with the Cavs on March 22 — the first day he can sign.
