Bad road trip led to Dunleavy quitting (AP)

Posted on 21 December 2009

Los Angeles Clippers new interim coach Kim Hughes takes questions from the media during an availability at NBA basketball practice at the Los Angeles Clippers Training Center in Playa Vista, Calif. on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010. Hughes, an assistant coach, was named the interim coach when Mike Dunleavy stepped down on Thursday, Feb. 4.

The Clippers' mounting losses, injuries and lack of playoff success finally took their toll on coach Mike Dunleavy. For once, he wanted to watch a movie instead of game film on the flight home. Dunleavy said Friday that's when he knew it was time to give someone else a chance to coach the Clippers and for him to focus strictly on his duties as general manager.
